Both towers of the 110-story World Trade Center are on fire after being struck by two hijacked jets. Between 20 and 30 alarms were dispatched within the first few hours plus a full department recall. The collapse of both towers claimed 343 firefighters, along with police officers, other emergency workers and several thousand civilians on Sept. 11, 2001.
